I teach psychology at the college level and I give guest lectures on research methods and data quality at universities around the country.
Since 2021, I've taught about 10 sections of Introductory Psychology and I've enjoyed the experience even more than I expected to. Part of it has been the challenge of making complex material accessible — finding the right examples, the right activities, the right way to explain something so it actually sticks. Part of it has been bringing a perspective to the classroom that students don't often get: someone who works in industry, sees how research happens across the behavioral sciences, and can talk about how technology and society shape what we study and how we study it.
My approach is hands-on and practical. I try to make the course feel less like a survey of topics and more like an invitation to think scientifically. I focus on the knowledge and skills students will actually take with them and the things that help them understand the world and themselves a little better.
In fall 2026, I'm teaching a new course on scientific communication. It's a topic I care about because I rely on these skills in my own work writing papers, giving talks, and translating research for different audiences.
I'm excited about this course because I believe the ability to think clearly about ideas, evaluate them, and share them is one of the most valuable things students can develop. I want students to leave this course with the skills and confidence required to present ideas in a way that connects with people. We'll work on writing, speaking, and storytelling, with projects that let students practice and get better.
Check back in December if you're interested in my syllabus, assignments, etc.
I regularly join classes as a guest lecturer to talk about online research methods and data quality. Recent guest lectures include:
Research Methods in Psychology, Siena College
Graduate Research Methods, North Carolina State University
Research Design, University at Albany
Data Driven Decision Making, Villanova University
If you'd like me to visit your class, let me know.
